OUR  VISION

Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church shall become a source of inspiration, replication, and training for church ministries throughout the land. We will LEAP into this end, as we:

  • LEAD with our presence in all areas of society (i.e. schools, government, corporate America).

  • EVANGELIZE (spread the gospel of Jesus) through outreach both near and far.

  • ASSIMILATE the truth of God’s Word through strategic planning and operations.

  • PREACH the truth of God’s Word to formally assembled congregations everywhere

About Our Pastor.

In December 2006, Rev. Preston E. Dixon became the peacock proud, hyena happy, elephant elated pastor of the Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church. He came to Mt. Gilead from St. John Baptist Church, Grand Prairie/Southlake TX under the tutorage of Dr. Denny D. Davis. He currently serves as President of the Grand Prairie Juneteenth Committee, where he has served for the past 7 years.  Rev. Dixon also currently holds the position as the Vice President of the Grand Prairie NAACP, Branch 6260.

He’s the recipient of the Lee Alcora Award, which was presented at the NAACP Grand Prairie Charley Taylor Hall of Fame Super Bowl Gala. Pastor Dixon is also a past Recipient of the Rosemary Newman Award, and the Community Activist Award (NAACP).  Most recently, Pastor Dixon received the City of Grand Prairie Humanitarian Award 2011.

After high school, he matriculated at North Texas State University, which is now known as the University of North Texas (UNT), on a football scholarship. Pastor Dixon was a very accomplished football player, and he received several awards and recognition in regards to his football skills. Pastor Dixon continued his ministry understudies at D. Edwin Johnson Theological Institute, and went on to receive his BA in Arts & Religion on October 7, 2011 from Faith Seminary College and has currently received his Master’s degree in Theology at the same institution. On Tuesday, March 25, 2014, Pastor Dixon began teaching at The D. Edwin Johnson Theological Institute as a Professor of Theology. His favorite motto is, “I want to be all that God would have me to be, so that Mt. Gilead can be all that God would have us to be!” Pastor Dixon has a powerful testimony that was published in October 2009, in the book entitled, “Embracing the Struggle” written by the famous and renowned author, Zig Ziglar.

Membership at Mt. Gilead has grown tremendously under Pastor Dixon’s leadership. 15 new ministries have been formed, and Pastor Dixon is truly being led by God. He is very passionate about the youth at Mt. Gilead, and every chance he gets, Pastor Dixon makes sure that his children are equipped with everything necessary to become great Disciples of Christ. He’s their number one advocate. Pastor Dixon is also a member of the Italy Ministerial Alliance, where he’s very active in supporting the food pantry, delivering bibles, and participating in the many community programs. Not only does he serve the Lord, but he has truly been a blessing to the Mt. Gilead Church family, as well as the Italy community. Pastor Dixon is united in marriage to Kechia Smith-Dixon.  They have one son, Quinston, who is a recent graduate of Prairie View A&M University.

Pastor Dixon has cultivated the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church into a Kingdom Minded Family. Because Pastor Dixon lets everyone know that Mt. Gilead is a Church Where the Word of GOD is explained and Jesus Christ is EXALTED!
